So let's call it jewelry. Tiny extensions of the muse herself. Tracey
Beale sculpts laughter into necklaces, love into rings and passion into
earrings. “Jewelry isn't
necessary, so why should it make sense?”
says the designer. Each piece has a name and often a colorful
explanation that offers a glimpse into the artist’s mind and
inspriration.
Form and movement are her focus. Tracey Beale uses a combination of
hammering, wire wrapping and soldering techniques. The marriage of her
drawing and writing talents with her work as a makeup artist give her
designs a unique edge. She has knack for what's about to occur and
considers jewelry design, her way to give the world what they never knew
they wanted.
With a bachelor’s of fine arts degree from the Maryland Institute
College of Art, Tracey moved to Philadelphia. There she made her way
into the fashion industry as a make up artist. Working with Paramount
Films, BET, MTV and Lifetime Television, just to name a few. Shortly
after, Tracey launched her line of sterling silver jewelry, designing
custom pieces.
“Music and touring has become a major influence”, Tracey says. Her
designs gained national exposure due to her work on several concert
tours. She has traveled the country with LL Cool J, A Tribe Called
Quest, The Roots, Floetry, Busta Rhyme, Common, John Legend De La Soul
and Miri Ben-ArBusta.
In February 2007 Tracey spent a year teaching jewelry to teens in Wiesbaden, Germany. During that time, she explored European design, landscapes and architecture in Greece, Brussels, France, and Holland. Now back in the US she is the program coordinator for two art based, youth programs in New Orleans.
